From IT to Hospitality

Anthony & Rebecca moved to Swellendam from Cape Town after selling their IT Software ( Linux OpenSource) business. Their two daughters, Claire and Sarah, stayed behind and they dragged their two, not so happy sons, Liam & Connor, to the countryside.

Why Swellendam? Well, we took a drive after watching a television program featuring country living and here we are. We certainly do not believe our little town, which happens to be the third oldest in South Africa can compete with the major tourist attractions of cities such as Cape Town but it certainly it has its own beauty with the stunning Langeberg mountain range and the beautiful walks in Marloth Nature reserve. For someone who has never visited the countryside I suggest spending a day or two in the Overberg and visit Montagu, Bonnievale, Barrydale, etc. whilst resting in Swellendam and staying with us.

After renovating our property we took a few months off to relax and started Cornfields River Bed and Breakfast Swellendam in the first week of October. We are absolutely loving life here in Swellendam with the relaxed lifestyle and the incredible friendliness of the locals.

Most of our bookings come via an Internet booking portal, booking dot com, where our guests have been very kind with their reviews, after 133 reviews we now have a review score of 9.7 which make us the highest rated 3star in Swellendam.
